...........................................
...........................................
...................................................... A Shakespearean Sonnet
....................................... Once in a little garden long ago -
....................................... a young maiden found a beautiful rose
....................................... so brightly hued, it was almost aglow
....................................... and pridefully, the fair rose seemed to pose.
....................................... The shy young maiden knelt in humbled awe,
....................................... perplexed at this stirring sight to behold,
....................................... when at once it spake and she thought she saw
....................................... a small child, its crimson petals enfold.
....................................... The tiny child's face was never quite seen
....................................... but its hand stirred gently within the rose,
....................................... and the maiden thought herself in a dream
....................................... as the rose petals set themselves to close.
....................................... The rose swayed and wee one began to nod -
....................................... a thing most magic in a rose's pod.
