Perseverance Empty Perseverance

......................................Perseverance

....................I turned and saw a blue butterfly sipping
...........dew and realized it was you kissing words.
...........How gently you lapped at the liquid writing,
...........each nuance more pleasing than fine calligraphy.

....................You told me once that your thoughts were
...........freshly delicate, like chest held poppies
...........from lucent, old southern fields.
...........I believed, and brought you more to behold.

....................Together, we read Angelou and Frost
...........Dickerson and Seuss and sighed,
...........and as if poets had no bones in their bodies,
...........we folded them up like origami
...........and hid them away in our enchanted hearts.
